To be a city girl working in a corporate industry with a lot of excess baggage on her back can be quite a challenge. I’ve always been on the lookout for bags that’ll carry all my everyday pouches (I have five), my laptop and all other essentials without looking like I’m heading out of the city for a week. Not to sound cheesy or anything, but I think I’ve found one.
The Bellroy Slim Backpack has ticked off a lot of boxes on my list of what a backpack should be like. Well for one, I’d still like to look feminine while carrying it. Matching it with my pants as well as my skirts and dresses should not be an issue. With this one, I don’t mind sashaying it around because it does not look bulky at all even with all my stuff cramped inside. Plus, you know how awkward it can get to squeeze yourself inside an almost full elevator with a huge bag on your back, right? It really matters to carry a slim bag that doesn’t get in the way of other people’s spaces.
Sure it’s slim, but it doesn’t mean it has lesser space inside. It is 17 inches tall and almost 14 inches wide, big enough to store all your essentials including a laptop of up to 15”. I have a 13” one that fits just right inside the laptop compartment. It’s important to note that your laptop is safely tucked inside the bag with optimum protection from bumps and tears because it’s supported with quality-grade
materials. Even when walking with this backpack on, my laptop is still in place and doesn’t make unnecessary squeaks when in contact with the fabric. It also has a pocket inside where you can store practically anything that you like including electronic chargers (if it’s not inside a pouch) or fancy fans and metal straws (in my case). It’s wide and its length almost reaches the bottom of the bag.
The Bellroy Slim also has a zip pocket on the side where you can have an easy access to your wallet, phones or keys. I’ve tried storing a foldable umbrella inside this pocket and it fits! No need to rummage inside the main bag opening for your valuables.
While it does store my things inside with guaranteed protection, I noticed how the bag goes in too deep and that it’s hard to pull some things that are stuffed in the bottom. Because I use it for work everyday, I constantly have to get something inside my bag. As a compromise, I would always just pull out the items I need before settling down on my desk and start hustling. It’s not so much of an issue if you know how to properly store the items inside like a puzzle of some sorts. The magnetic lock, on the other hand, can both be a plus point and a hitch. It allows me to easily open the bag without taking up too much time but closing it, however, can be a bit of a challenge. I just can’t seem to do it in one go. I would always find myself having to move the leather belt around to find where the magnet will fit.
Overall, it does spark joy to people who loves to bring a lot of stuff everyday of their lives. It’s slim, lightweight and has crazy storage space inside. What more can one ask for?
