Self Neck-Massage During Extended Community Quarantine

Hi Flow Tribe!
We know the way we treat and react towards others is a reflection of our well-being and happiness. Here Metro Manila Philippines, we are going through our second Extended Community Quarantine from March 21- April 5, 2021, which means more businesses will require people to work from home. Neck is a common complaint which can be due to poor posture. With businesses like spas, salons and massage clinics being none-essential, it’s likely people will not have much opportunity to get me-time. If you are feeling physically tensed or sore; already taking a few minutes to check-in with your body and practice pressing and rubbing your skin and the underlying muscles will help release stress and increase relaxation.
Steps for your 1-2 minute self neck massage:
  • Gently lower your shoulders away from your ears. Lengthen your neck and back
  • Find the tensed or painful area on your neck. Press on the neck gently yet firmly with your fingers
  • Slowly move your fingers in circular motions. And continue doing the opposite direction.
By taking the time to care of our neck we can release muscle stains, nerve compression and poor posture. When we give ourselves a moment to pause we create space to be more compassionate and prevent pain associated with the neck.
Try it out and let me know what you think!
Make it a great weekend!
