They’re quick and easy to make, without unnecessary additives. All you need is a blender, strainer, nut milk bag or cheese cloth.

You may use these homemade milk recipes for any recipe you need milk as an ingredient. Use it for baking and cooking, have it with cereal, blend it with your smoothies or have it with hot drinks such as coffee or hot chocolate. Homemade Nut Milk Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup, raw, unsalted nuts such as almonds, macadamia, cashew, hazelnuts, pecan or walnuts (soaked in water overnight)

3 cups filtered water

Method:

Rinse and drain soaked nuts then combine it with filtered water in a blender and blend until smooth. Make sure not to use the soaking water.

Strain the milk from the blender into a nut milk bag and squeeze the contents out to a large bowl. You may also use a fine strainer if you don’t have a nut milk bag or cheese cloth.

Pour the milk into a glass jar and keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Homemade Oat Milk Recipe

Ingredients:

1 cup oatmeal (soaked in water for at least 30 minutes)

3 cups filtered water

Method:

Drain soaked oatmeal very well then rinse it some more with filtered water to take the slime out. Soaking creates softer oats and makes it easier to digest.

Place oats into the blender and combine with filtered water. Blend in high speed for about 2 minutes.

Strain the oat milk from the blender into a nut milk bag and squeeze the contents out to a large bowl. You may also use a fine strainer if you don’t have a nut milk bag or cheese cloth. Strain for a second time to make your milk a bit smoother.

Pour the milk into a glass jar and keep in the fridge for up to 4 days.

Notes:

We like to keep recipes as simple as possible. If you would like to add a bit of sweetness to your milk, you may include healthy sweeteners when blending such as a tsp of coconut sugar, honey, maple syrup or 1-2 pieces of dates.

For a nutritional boost, you may add 1 tsp collagen powder, maca or hemp.

Almond milk usually appears to be a bit watery compared to other nut milks. Add 1/2 tsp of guar gum or anthem gum upon blending to make it creamier or lessen water.
